I tried to search forum but with no results. Only find some mentioned "known issue" in http://forum.notebookreview.com/archive/index.php/t-222805.html posted by Ryaske - cant find "dell location manager" in quickset anywhere, like it says i should in C:\Program Files\Dell\QuickSet\help\ENG\connect.htm (copy and paste that to start > run or a browser, on your m1530.) with no answer and details abt "issue".

    So, my question is same.
Is there anyone who can use this option with xps 1530 !?
I used to have Toshiba Pro with Toshiba ConfigFree and I found it very useful for migrating between office, home, hotels etc...
With one click I change all my settings (different ip address, different local and network printers, gateways, firewall, etc,,,) - no reboot.
Anyhow I have QuickSet 8.2.20 (latest !?) claiming that this version is for xps 1530 and there is only networking - wireless option ?! :((

Tnx for effort. No use. This is the part of the problem, Under Windows mobility I can found (Customized by Dell) three options:
    - Networking
    - Display settings
    - System configuration

Further. under Networking - configure there is only Wi-fi catcher/Radio control. There is nothing about wired network or Location configuration (printers, network setup on different locations, gateway etc). This is the problem.
I even tried to install Quickset using MSI command line parameters using parameters forcing to install everything (including location profiler) but... with no success.
After all i'm just curios if anyone with xps 1530 has this option (changing network, printers, etc parameter
depending on present location) or not ?

Under Networking, I am able to set up profiles for each connection including printers and parameters. Works for me, anyway.

You set up a separate profile for each location and edit that location for the parameters.

You then select that location when you want to connect to that network.

Have you tried to right-click on the Quickset Icon and selecting Help? It should pop up a detailed step-by-step instruction.

Unfortunately, I don't have this option and this is the part (major part :) ) of problem. Under networking I'm able to work only with wireless setup (catcher) - nothing else is there.
Yes I tried with help as first thing, but there is no help actualy. There is kind of manual how things should work (if you have icons and option to do things :) which I don't have)

I noticed fm your sig that you are using vostro not xps !? Could be that this options somehow working with Vostro but no with xps ??? I do not see why but...
According to Dell fm where I dl last version of QuickSet it is compatibile with XPS1530. Of course. it is. It seams this is kind of criple version in XPS case. Working but without location manager if installed on 1530.
Will se if someone with XPS has same trouble...

    tnx

I have been playing with the quickset utility today, still having trouble with it, but I did notice the location profile link went away after I told it to use the Intel software to manage to wireless connection, allowing Windows to manage the wireless brought it back after a reboot.
