If I buy an external BD Drive and hook it up to a XPS 1530, will I be able to use media direct to play Blu rays like you can with the internal BD drive?

The one you boot up with its own power button, or the one in Vista? The latter should certainly work, though the former would depend if it loads USB drivers and offers an option to search for media on drives other than the system drive.

I don't really use MD so I'm not sure; maybe others could tell you more definitively.
