    Hi Guys!

I have a problem and it does not seem the Dell people can figure it out. Since some of you are pretty smart maybe you guys came accross this problem and can help me.

My dvd drive has been ejecting cds randomly without me touching anything. It could take 2 to 3 days and all of a sudden cd pops out! Worse, the eject button keeps glowing for over 1 hour after the eject.

I am running on vista home. Dell changed the dvd drive, reformatted the HD , updated the driver, nothing worked.

    Any ideas? Please!

the sensor for the eject button is bad... could be because you spilled stuff on it, or it just happens...

ask if dell can replace the mediakeys parts... it just consists of the black strip containing the touch sensitive keys, two buttons, and a wire-strip connecting it to the mobo

Thanks so much! I spent a few hours with Dell today, he reinstalled the bios and the software associated to the the touches, Dell quickset. If this does not work I will ask them to change the touched.

Thanks so much for your reply!

Well, bios and quiset di not work. So I guess the keys are next on the list. IF anybody has another idea as to why this is going on, please chip in.

    Turn off your Notebook.
    Take the Battery out.
Now keep the button to turn your notebook on pressed for 30 Seconds.
Then put your battery back inside, and turn your notebook on.

It should be working properly now.

    Cheers

Thanks! Is this something I have to do just once or will I have to do it every once in a while?
