Good morning everyone,
I have a Dell XPS M1530 using Windows XP 32-bit. The system itself has been working great however, I continue to have read problems with discs in the slot-load blu-ray. Any type of disc that I put in is hit or miss on whether it reads properly. Most of the time the drive will not read and I will see a series of errors generated in the Event Viewer > System.
------------------------
Event ID: 11
Source: Cdrom
The drive detected a controller error on \Device\CdRom0

Currently I am in ATA mode instead of AHCI. Before I call Dell to see if it is bad hardware, I wanted to check with this community first to see if putting the BIOS setting to AHCI would correct the drive performance. By switching to AHCI with XP already installed, will this render my current XP installation inoperable?
Any information is most appreciated.
Thank you.

BenLeonheart walk in see this wat do?
You'd be better off calling Dell...
Better to get it replaced than wasting the 50/50 chance and rendering XP inoperable (IF). -
Switch it to AHCI first
