    Hello All --

I wanted to see how others that have ordered refurb units off the outlet, how their units have shown up. I ordered a unit with the 1080P screen and i5 proc and I got the unit, opened up the plain cardboard box and the unit was inside wrapped with plastic. I hardly even took it out and noticed immediatlety that the unit was dinged up, scratched BADLY on the bottom. I flipped it around and the lid was all scratched up. I didnt even turn the machine on, called Dell and requested refund. They didnt even offer me a new replacement unit!

So before I try ordering again, what is experience of everyone else here with refurb units?

I have ordered 2 refurbs. One was a regular refurb and it was fine. The other was a "scratch and dent" model and it came just as advertised... AKA scuffed up. Pay attention to what you order. The price on a scratch and dent will be much lower than a regular refurb. I personally don't mind "character" when it comes to a laptop.

Ok thanks....I made sure I selected "refurb" and not scratch and dent. I am going to give it another shot and see how it goes. Maybe I just got a bad one.

I just received the same refurb 15Z as you on Monday (i5, 1080p). It's in good shape. A few very fine scratches on the top if you look very closely. A small scrape on the bottom. Not really noticeable at all.

Sad thing is that I'm leaning towards returning and going MacBook Pro 13" instead. I just hate paying more for less hardware!!! The 1080p screen looks very good to me.

I bought an XPS 15z from the outlet and it came in brand new condition. I bet it was a previously ordered new unit because it didn't even look like it was ever powered on by an end user. No scratches, no dead pixels, just perfect.

    Just purchased a 15z with an i5, 6GB Ram, 2GB 525m, 750HDD, and 1080p for $850 using 20% off coupon. Wish me luck! I'm praying I get a perfect one like Joker

I wouldn't worry so much about getting a bad one. I have a friend who orders exclusively from Outlet and has done for many years. I think he maybe got a few with some issues, but all was resolve in the end. You got a good price, now just await the arrive of a nice laptop :)

It's cool. I have never had a Outlet laptop. But, I understand your being nervous. When I was waiting on my laptop/and netbook I was worried about things like "what if it doesn't work" "what if the exterior has defects", but then I remembered "hey, I'm getting a laptop"..and focused on the good things about it :D
