I'm wondering if anyone had this problem recently or could help me.
I can't be assed to contact the dreadful dell phone tech support and lose the rest of my week on it, and the canadian chat tech support tells me "it won't support my xps 15z".
I still am in warrantee for a few months more.

    SO my problem:
I lost every drivers related to nvidia's stuff as far as i can tell.
My GT525m is still recognized (it is seen in device manager, however as an Unkown Device).
Using windows (8, x64) to reinstall the drivers through devmgr results in a failure, same as through Dell's and Nvidia's drivers installer (it stop about halfway through installing the Graphics Drivers and then says it cant install).
Starting the NVIDIA Control Panel from the Hardware and Sound panel results in the "You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU." error. My HD3000 still seems to work well enough.<

EDIT: I've got the i7qm, the GT525m is the 2gb version, I've changed some parts myself (two months ago) but had no problems related to that that i didn't solve.
I replaced the 8gb RAM with 16gb, replaced the dvddrive by the original HDD in a caddy and put a OCZ agility 3 ssd in the former's place.
I also upgraded to windows 8 x64 PRO, which I'm starting to wildly regret and might consider reverting to windows7, but it, I just love -SOME- new features of W8 (the new copy, the new task manager)

Try installing the intel display drivers first, then the nVidia drivers. I got them both working on a Win8 Pro install with no issues, also with an HD in the optical bay.

I know what you mean about wanting to go back to Win 7. I reverted back to 7 for now. If Win 8 just let me use the aero theme and completely disable metro, I'd switch back to in in a heartbeat. I'm contemplating switching back anyway.

Incidently, i have since managed to remove most nvidia-related drivers, will try reinstalling soon.
However I'm still stuck with the stupid nvidia HD audio driver 1.3.18.0
Uninstalling through programs and features gives me the error:

    RunDLL
    There was a problem starting c:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\installer2\installer.2\NVI2.dll
The specified mode could not be found.

I'm tempted to just go and wipe the NVIDIA Corporation folder in safe mode, but that does sound like a terribly idea now that it's typed out.

Sounds like a good idea to me. You've always got the intel card to fall back on, and even windows can use the NVIDIA card in VGA mode to get you back up and running.

Well seem like I am not the only one having issues with the L511z and Windows 8. After chasing my tail around with Video drivers, I believe I have those setup correctly but man is this system is so slow.

Do you guys perhaps know why I am getting completely bogged down with R/W tasks? Saving an image in Photoshop is seriously a couple minutes.
