I've never seen this problem before but I'm having issues of my programs being "deslected" while I'm typing. I'm not sure how to word it but if I'm typing in word or using the internet I usually hear that "ding" sound while I'm typing. The typing stops and if I type more the ding sounds again. It already happened 2 times while typing this thread. I look up at the window and I notice that the window is a little faded, that's because it's no longer the selected window anymore and I would have to click on the window again to begin typing. It gets fustrating when I'm trying to type anything, whether it's a thread or just trying to log into a site. Every couple of minutes it does this or sometimes sooner.
While playing games I noticed that this problem does not happen with full screen programs, only windows. Although this does not persist in fullscreen games, games such as Minecraft which are run in windows still happens. Every couple of minutes I hear that ding noise (while using hte keyboard) and minecraft goes into the esc menu and I would have to click on the window to begin playing. It's an odd problem I've never seen before. I make sure that I'm not touching any other key by elevating my palm and just typing letters, no luck.
Since I got the 15z I formatted the hardrive and installed W7 Prof x64. Installed all of the necessary Dell drivers and some software such as webcam central. I'm using a Microsoft mouse. Anyone have an idea what the problem is?

You are somehow clicking outside of the active window. Probably with the touchpad. Try disabling the touchpad and see if the issue persists, if so you are likely clicking the external mouse somehow.
-
I think it is the touchpad too.. I have heard similar stories for the 15z regarding the touchpad and how bad and sensitive it was
-
That was the first thing I thought it was, but as I said I lifted my palm up to make sure only my fingers were typing on the keyboard so I wouldn't accidently press a function or a hot key. If it satisfies you it still does it with the touchpad and buttons completely turned off. Maybe it could be a malfunction in the keyboard?

Most likely the touchpad, I have seen something similar while typing but I'm not surprised as I always experience this with my other laptops.

I'm having the exact same problem. For me, it appears that it happens more often when the laptop is hot. Not sure if that's just coincidence.
This happens when using an external mouse as well as without.
Does anybody have any ideas other then suggesting it's the trackpad? That has been ruled out by the original poster of this thread as well as by me. The cursor can be in the window you are typing and the window will still de-select. So if you were accidentally pressing the trackpad, it would not de-select the "current" window.
Thanks. -
Same issue, I posted about this a while ago. If you uninstall the Cypress drivers the issue seems to go away. I also decrease the press sensitivity.
Has anyone found a solution to this yet? -
