Knowing that the XPS 15z has Intel video plus nVidia video, we're having problems hooking up (via HDMI) a big screen TV and cloning the main display to the TV.
We've been able recently to just plug in the HDMI cable and it works. Today, though (of course when I'm not there to assist), they took the laptop and connected it
and the clone/duplicate display option was not in the drop down list. Turns out the main display was on the Intel video, and the HDMI Sony TV was on the nVidia.
Apparently, you cannot clone the display across the two video adapters.

My questions are, why did it work before (I have to assume that the main LCD display and the TV were assigned the same video adapter somehow), and how can I
insure that in the future, both are on the Intel video or both on the nvidia? Seems like it's willy-nilly which output gets assigned to a particular adapter.

    Very frustrating. Ideas?

    Thanks.
