Hello, I need to get a cooling pad for my Dell XPS 16" - and my first question is - does the Zalman NC series fit the XPS 16? with all the air-intake-exhaust and everything? is it a good choice? and if so NC-1000 or NC-2000? and if not, what is the optimal cooler for the XPS 16?

    thank you!

I've got the (black) Zalman NC-2000. I think the NC-1000 would be too small.
It matches the XPS perfectly - even down to the blue power LEDS.
It also has a noticeable effect even with the fan on the NC-2000 switched off, you can hear the laptop fan working much less hard. This is probably because it raises the laptop off the desk allowing more airflow.
I'm happy with my purchase... :)

I think the NC-2000 will fit the SXPS 16 better. I have NC-1000 for the SXPS 13 and it fits very well. Then my friend who has 15.4 in laptop cannot fit the NC-1000. It looks that the laptop will fall anytime.

How much does the Zalman 2000 cool off the 1640XPS ?

ok so NC-2000, now how about the airflow? it's suitable for the XPS 16 intake-outake? iv'e read on some review that not all laptops fit the NC-2000 in these terms

Since it is good for SXPS13, I think it is also good for SXPS16 also. The NC-2000 blows the air from the tiny holes to the laptop. I don't think it will block anything. Just remember to put the laptop's top right corner on top of the holes so that the cooler can blow the air in.

The vents on the NC-2000 are towards the front of the stand and the XPS 16 heat issues appear to be at the front of the laptop (most noticeable around the touchpad area) so it seems to be a good fit (in my unscientific opinion). Either way air circulates quite well around the bottom of the laptop whilst it is on the stand.
I have not done any formal tests of CPU/GPU temps however as the laptop never got that hot even off the stand. The fan just runs a lot more quietly in the laptop when on the stand and the fans in the NC2000 are almost silent....

    Good question there.

    Anybody can provide a temp comparison w/ & w/o the cooler? :)

Many thanks in advance . ..

The 1000 is a small cooler any 16 inch notebook will hang over it you probably wont even see the cooler. The 2000 is for up to say a 17 inch which for me is pushing it, worse yet the box actually says 20, an HDX Dragon would look like it was levitating lol.

The real question is NC2000 versus NZXT Cryo LX. If the vents are on the forward 3/4 of the laptop then the zalman. If the vents are on the back half of the notebook (like the XPS 1770 the NZXT).
