Soo.. Any news?![]()

Seriously. Come on Dell, i'm trying to give you my money. Out with it already!
-
i hope something will happen on around 26th or at latest on the week following it, i think i can't wait any longer.
-
I think the magic date will be the 24th. Mark my words!
-
C'mon Dell! This would make the laptop worthy of the XPS name (sort of) and make it a reasonable gaming laptop.
Hoping to see this over the coming weeks.
My magic date is the 27th, because that's when their special on the XPS 16 ends! -
Ok never mind, the magic date is going to be either 25th of 26th of June.
Sorry all, I meant June, not July! -
'July'?!?!? *swoons*
-
Why July? Seems to me like they're almost ready to launch this thing, what with the BIOS being updated and even the product page listing the card as an option for a while. If I were Dell, I'd wanna get this thing out the door so all those kids looking for college laptops (like me
) can scoop up this beaut- with the new graphics, it'll officially have a better screen and better graphics than a top of the line Macbook Pro. Late July seems a little on the late side.
-
This thread is amusing!
Haha, I just cancelled my order as they delayed the EDD and probably won't make it by the time my friend who's willing to bring it over for me leaves the States . . .. -
I wouldn't be surprised if we are in for quite a wait. But not many alternatives for attractive laptops that use the ATI 4650/4670 so I don't really see myself having another choice but to wait. I know there is the hp dv6t but it has a low res screen and doesn't offer much when it comes to CPU's.
-
I meant June*, Sorry.
-
In case anyone has an itchy trigger finger the 1gb 4670 is now available for a $100 upcharge on the laptop.
-
Finally!
Whoever gets it first - write a review!
And if somebody finds a review on the internet, tell me
-
Sadly not in the UK yet but we do have the T9900 3.06Ghz processor
-
I TOLD YOU PEOPLE IT WAS 25TH OF JUNE!! 1337!1
Seriously, I CAN'T WAIT till it comes here. But 100 USD is allot though. -
I wonder how long it will take to get here.
-
I predict the end of july around the same time a the windows 7 upgrade program
-
-
$100 in the US is probably going to end up £100 in the uk lol
look at the screen upgrade price, its $250 to get the rgb led while its £245 to get it as well
-
SWEEET. I'm ordering this today via Dell EPP, I'll let you guys know how the laptop is once it gets here. I already pretty much know the performance though since I have an HP DV7 with ATI 4650 1GB in it. I knew it was either today or after July 4th..glad it came now.
-
Cool, have one configured in my cart and will go through the checkout process tomorrow.
-
The Windows 7 thing will come in end of June. Did you mean June?
-
Yes i did mean they end of june
-
It's here!
-
Please upload some benchmarks and first impressions regarding the new version of studio xps 16.
-
Brendanmurphy Your Worst Nightmare
Dude your gonna have to wait atleast 2-3 weeks before anyone has it to bench -
Only in USA.
-
Exactly!!
-
Mine is scheduled for July 10th but I'm guessing it'll get here earlier since Dell always beats the estimated date by 2-3 days.
-
Sweet! Ordering tomorrow when Win 7 upgrade supposedly starts.
-
I think I'm one of the few that prefers Vista SP2 over Windows 7. In raw benchmarks, Windows 7 is slower than Vista SP2 in games. -
Really? Could you post the source? My 1640's Windows experience index with the graphics card (3670) is higher on my Windows 7 RC build 7232 than Vista SP2.
-
Sure, take a look: http://www.techradar.com/news/softw...s-windows-vista-vs-windows-7-604178?artc_pg=2
Windows 7 is still a new operating system and in time I'm sure it'll catch up to Vista in real world gaming performance but so far it's either dead even or slower overall. -
That's only because Windowss 7 has a maximum score of 7.9. Vista can score only a maximum 5.9, that's why you (maybe) have a lower score in Vista.
-
I'm planning on buying a SXPS soon, I don't currently do a lot of gaming but I might pick up some games and start playing pc games again in the future. Do you think its worth upgrading to the 4670 for $100 or should i just stick with the current card
-
Unless you're planning to game hardcore, there really is no point to get the upgraded video card IMO.
-
If you get the RGBLED screen, yes the upgrade is WELL worth it. Gaming at 1080p is going to require a better card.
I tried gaming on the SXPS 16 but it didn't work too well (FEAR 2 was all choppy and heated up the system to no end).
I think that, next to the RGBLED upgrade, the 4670 is the best upgrade you can get on the SXPS 16. -
what about the xps13? any upgrade for that?
-
I didn't see this yet..and very curious...I was on my EPP site last night..
Anyone?

-
So the 4670 1gb card is now available to configure on the SXPS 1640, I returned my 3670 equipped sxps 16 yesterday.
-
I wonder when this thing will come out to the European market..
1 week? 2? -
We're pretty much screwed on returning if we've had it about three months, no?
Hopefully some motherboards/GPUs show up on eBay! -
Yeah, a return after 3 months..not likely at all.

Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
It's finally on the Dell website! 1GB 4670 +$100 from 3670.
-
Ordered mine with that so ill 3dmark it as soon as i get the laptop in ~2 weeks.
-
Meh, I'm starting to wonder if I should buy the XPS 16 now, instead of waiting for the 4670. Like it seems now, it will take weeks for it to get here.
-
I really hope it comes to the uk soon
-
hey, this might be covered/dumb question
but if all units are built overseas and then shipped over to you.. then why isn't everyone offered the 4670 upgrade? assuming it's from the same place -
oh man i dont know
but i can't wait until it's available for puerto rico as well.
-
The laptops in the uk are built in Ireland I don't know where the rest are built
