    Hi All

I've had the XPS 16 (with the 1080p LED screen) for about 3 months now, I have been running Win 7 x64 since day 1. I have a strange problem where the screen backlight flickers slightly (just enough to be noticeable). I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue?

    Thanks.

If it happens at the lowest brightness and only at the lowest brightness, it's most likely normal. Some E6400 owners have reported such, and the general consensus (last I heard) was that the machine drops the refresh rate in order to save power at the lowest brightness setting.

I noticed that on my 1340 WLED, but only at the lowest brightness.

Thanks for the feedback guys. This happens on all brightness levels. I usually keep it mid way since the screen is super bright. I guess I have to call Dell for a replacement. Hopefully they won't give me much trouble.

This could also be a GPU issue -- but in either case Dell cannot fault you for it and they will fix it.

You're right it might be a gpu issue as well. no way to know. Only problem is I have Win 7 RC running. I have a feeling tech support is going to blame 7 and say install Vista and see if the problem persists.

That's why you lie and tell them your using Vista, they have no way to know and when the tech gets there they could care less what your running.

same thing is happening on my 1340 - is this a fault/defect or is it a common problem with the refresh rate dropping? I'm getting a techie to come replace my motherboard cos they determined it could be the mobo when I called up tech support.
