Check the Official Studio XPS 16 thread. I believe I read someone was able to make it work. I gotta ask why? Your machine even with low specs should run Vista just fine. ;)

Although it'll Vista just fine, it'll run XP much better.

That's like saying a Ferrari 430 is faster than a 911 Turbo. Yes, it is, but how much faster can it get? Speed is a poor reason to downgrade to XP.

I agree with this. If speed is what you're really after, you should upgrade to Windows 7, not to XP. Driver compatibility is a lot better in Windows 7 for your notebook than XP.

It's not just speed but personal preference also.

I installed XP on my M1530 as soon as I received it. Windows 7 is not officially available as far as I know, right?

You can find BETA versions of it legitimately and use that.

It's a huge difference over XP, and can run with 512 mb of RAM.

i would recommend you just tweak vista a bit and wait for windows 7, windows xp is too old IMO, and it still has A LOT of annoying bugs i have experienced since its release!!! ( ahem... 2001? = 8 years? ) leave xp to old computers with Pentium 4 processors and 254 megabytes of RAM :D

and by the way, im using windows 7 right now, and its simply 10 times better and faster than poor old vista (ahem... 2006? ... heheh just kidding :D )

and i really dont think the studio xps is designed to run with xp, at least my xps m1530 wasnt lol. you might hit a LOT of issues, and end up upgrading (err... downgrading.... err... Moving! ) to vista again... but its your decision :D
