I've been looking at the XPS 16 a lot, but some recent changes have made me like it a little less. Is it really no longer available in white?

Do you have any idea if a newer XPS 16 is going to come out soon? I don't want to get one only to have it immediately replaced by a better one.

Additionally, I noticed on the website, the 9-cell battery is the only option. Is there a good 6-cell battery you can buy separately for this computer?

The mandatory 9 cell is only for the quad core models, the larger battery lifts the laptop to aid in cooling, thereby reducing the throttling problem some are having.

As far as the white goes, it's possible that they stopped making the XPS16 and are trying to exhaust the remaining stock before the new XPS 15 / 17 comes out.

9 cell is just mandatory for all i5's and i7's now, and the 6 cell from ebay or something wouldn't last very long or do much for the ventilation!
Lack of white sounds like stock clearout to me too!

I don't like white but it does feel good knowing I'm part of the minority who owns it.

Or (gasp!) maybe so many people bought white that they ran out... it's a troubling thought.

Now it's no longer available in red. It definitely seems it's being phased out!

Agreed, it's always like that. I got my 1640 1.5 years back with the price tag of $1200 when the site was showing $2000!!! Anyways, Are those EPP reps still giving out good deals, cheap upgrades like before? I remember getting an RGB LED screen with $50 (it was supposed to be $250) LOL :D :D :D

I mean even with the EPP discount it's $1690 now! Aren't things supposed to be cheaper as they're clearing out stock? Unless they think they'll run out completely before the new XPS 15/17s release date?

I understand but EPP merchandise is always overprice IMHO. It is always priced way way higher than the normal Dell homepage. What I usually do is look for a good deal @ Dell home and then call EPP and get them to price-match it (yes, their policy has pricematch as well). So, I get good prices from dell home with discounts, cheap upgrades, and alot of freebies.
