Hi, I received my xps 16 last week and have been hearing these clicking noise from the hard drive. Everytime one of these happens, there a .5-1 second pause in whatever i was doing.

Has anyone else had the same problem or know how to fix this?

    Do you have 320gb?

My friend has the 320gb and his clicks. I have the 500gb but mine sounds fine to me.

I have the 500gb 7200rpm and it clicks a little bit but that is just the read head skittering about, I think it's pretty quiet but I haven't had another laptop to compare it to, it's audiable but not distracting

It not normal. Download hdtune and do a scan of the hard disk. It's more than likely going to fail soon.

Yeah, I just called Dell and they're going to send a technician over to replace the harddrive. Hopefully that will fix it. Thanks for the help guys.
