    Hello~

I've been thinking about getting a new laptop. I'm pretty satisfied with Dell, I know that I might get a "better" deal some where else, however Dell has provided me exceptional service with 3 systems I've own/owned in the past. The studio XPS 16 has everything I want in a laptop minus a gaming video card. The alienware looks very slick and has a decent video card. I have a budget of $2000. So I'm looking for opinions, which of the two would YOU get?

I'm intending to use it for School, Blu-rays, Video Editing and some gaming(not FPSs).

    Thanks for your time~

For your needs, the SXPS 16 would suit just fine since I guess you're not into hardcore gaming.

Better wait for the new m15x if you're opting for it. A new model is set to be released very soon.

I would stay away from the M15x. It isn't better than the Studio XPS 16 at anything other than the video card, and it isn't night and day better. The 4670M will still be able to play game around, albeit not on as high settings as a 9800M GT might. Other than the video card, the XPS 16 is superior. The XPS is a current generation laptop while the Alienware is getting kind of old. It lacks support for 1066Mhz FSB processors and 800Mhz ram. And since you aren't playing FPS's, you don't need a whole ton of graphics card power. You will save a lot of money if you don't need a gaudy laptop.

Yeah I've been thinking the same as well. I got the xps 1640 with the RGB display, T9600 (2.8G) processor, 4GB of Ram, Blu-ray burner etc. I hope I'll be happy with it.
