Anyone else have problems with sleep mode (or a resolution to this problem)? About 1 out of 25 times that I tell my laptop to sleep it crashes. The screen turns off, but everything else (keyboard backlight, fan, media lights) stays on. The only choice for me is to then force the laptop to shutdown by holding down the power button.

The caps lock button light doesn't function when my laptop is stuck (someone said this is the best way to tell if a Dell is "stuck"), but the keyboard backlight timer still functions and turns itself off after the minute.

Also, there is no information generated in Windows 7's event log except that the system unexpectedly shut down when I hold down the power button.

I have a 1640, but I have had that same problem too. For me, it also occurs when trying to shut it down. It happens to me at about the same frequency as you. I let it work on its own, and I have discovered that if you let it sit, it will turn off after about 7-9 minutes. I don't know what it is either though.
