My 1645 is barely a year old, and the screen has failed. It almost seems like there's a dent from some physical trauma, but there are no marks on either side of the screen.

I'm out of warranty. What is the cost I'm looking at for parts and labour? Is it possible to just ask Dell to send me a RGBLED screen (if they still have those?) and swap it myself? I'm comfortable doing that.

    Thank you!

You could ask Dell for a screen but they are going to charge crazy prices. See if you can source the screen from a 3rd party, because screens come from all the same factories in Asia.

Labor is free if you DIY, check out support.dell.com and punch in your service tag.

Well I know Dell still stocks refurb RGBLEDs for the XPS 16. I know because I just got mine replaced today. Not sure if you want to pay the price for them...I'm guessing they'll charge at least $400 for the part alone.

    Hi Guys,
I have an extra new/unused/unopened AUO B156HW01 V.7 screen with the matching FHD Dell LVDS cable available for anyone who wants it. I am just looking to get what I paid for it since I already installed all the other screens I ordered with it. PM me if interested.

    Scott-

Well better and Smarter way to go about this would be, To extend your dell's warranty.
I guess 2nd year advanced warranty cost like what 200$. And the report the problem to dell. By doing this you would be covered for the whole year.
