I've had this laptop for about 5 months now and today i noticed the hotkeys above the keyboard aren't illuminated anymore. They still work if you press them but the problem is I can't see which one im pressing so I have to randomly stab in the vicinity to get the function I want!
Has anyone else had this problem? Or does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks

tried this program? C:\Program Files\Dell\QuickSet\BacklitKB.exe
see what the setting of the illumination. -
It seems that those setting only affect the backlight of the keyboard and not the hotkeys.

In any case when something in your laptop is not working as usual any more, it helps shutting it down, pulling the cable an the battery and hold the power button for like 10 seconds. After that power it up again and everything should be fine.

OK might not be te exact right place to post but it shoudl be quite similar. I have a 1647 xps and my problem is that the hotkey buttons are not illuminated and they don't work at all. I have done bios update and installed quickset again.
This just happened in an instant. I was at work, put the computer to sleep, when I got back to my house, I tried to connect but I couldnt (radio was off and I was trying to turn it on). So now, I don't have wireless cuz i can't turn the radio on.
Any help, ideas, suggesions?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: (Problem Solved) I didn't think it would work beause it sounded weird but I used Fusel Wusels recommendation to pull out cable AND battery and hold power button. (I held it for about 30 sec). I turned it on and it worked. Now, does anyone know WHY it worked or why it would stop working in the first place? What does the power without battery and ac adapater does that makes it work? -
@hellbinder - I don't exactly know why it happened, but, I hope you know that there is a coin cell in the motherboard and pressing the power button might just do a reset ( just as in a desktop motherboard).
I would love if somebody could explain these !
