 Just got my new XPS 17 today with the Win7 dvd and driver dvd.
To get some more speed I threw in a Crucial M4 SSD and made a clean install from the W7 dvd. So far so good.. Installed all newest drivers taken from Dell and Nvidia website. No prob..
Now I figured to install some of the original soft like Powerdvd, McAfee etc.. from the included dvd's, but not one single program comes on the dvd's!!
So does someone knows how to get the original setup's from these progs, with the original software keys or licenses? (I took the option on a 3Y McAfee license)
This is not correct from Dell at all to my opinion.
Am I forced to continue with the original preloaded W7 with all the bloatware?
After desinstallation of these a lot of clutter is still in the registry.
    I want all clean!

You can use ccleaner to clean the registry. I know some hard core folks will say I am crazy for using it. We use it on all 6 family computers, including my brand new L702X and it has never failed me. The program is free and it just works.

The first thing I did after I unboxed this computer 3 days ago was uninstall all the crap and run CCleaner andnot one problem. I also install the Nvidia 290.53 drivers from the Nvidia site and all is well.

Thanks Beno618 for the good hint.
However I just tried to get my system registered to get to the downloads,
    and.. guess what..
When the Dell scanning prog "Syspro" tries te get my XPS registered the website crashes!! message: "Server Error in '/Web' Application." blablabla..
    Will try again tomorrow.
After testing my BD drive on Powerdvd with a Blu-ray movie, I only get the message: Powerdvd does not recognize this disc... What a mess!
Thank you Dell.... Everything starts well..
I already am considering to return the XPS and get a refund.
I only want a notebook that functions, not more.

    Hi Quakermaas,
    Sorry you misjudged.
I still have the original harddisk running when I put it back in.
Untouched that is. And Powerdvd 9.6 BD and BD-3D cannot play Blu-ray. due to itself.
As stated in other thread Dell confirms this and advises if I want to play Blu-ray movies ( even in 3D, this is why I ordered the 3D 1080 display and 3Gb videocard) I have to buy the appropriate software because the software they put on the pc to play what it is meant for, is disfunctional.
In this way they can even promote they put the Adobe full CS5 on the Hdd, but give you no key. Oh no, Photoshop doesn't work, you first have to pay 3000 $ to Adobe.
I think Dell are very nice guys!
