    Hi

Despite my reservations about both, I think my choices for the next machine for me to buy is between the XPS 17 and the M6600.

Could any owners of (ideally 'maxed') current-model XPS 17's with Optimus post their experiences of runtimes in Wifi-enabled power saving modes?

Please quote spec and type of use - as it'll help me narrow down the choice.

    Many thanks

I have a L702X 3D so no optimus but managed to get about 2 1/2 hours out of a 9 cell battery. I have a i7 CPU (can't remember what one sorry but know it does 3.1ghz in turbo), 6 GB RAM (1x 4GB 1x 2GB), 2x HDD (7200 rpm)

Mainly used to surf the net and play facebook games.

Thanks and sorry after you took the time to post - I should have said Optimus but I was making the mistake of thinking all XPS 17's were Optimus. Non-Optimus runtime is unusable for me so not relevant.

Np, you did say in the subject that you was after optimus but then in body you put maxed so thought I would post as maxed is with 3d. No harm done but gives you a non optimus to compair to ;)

6gigs ram and 500GB HDD with one external 500 always connected, I get 4hrs of battery life with wifi on for net

I concur......without doing anything too serious...I'll have to double check on my battery wear but I get 4-5 hours easy.
