Just bought myself an XPS 15, (second one), and now my nephew wants to score a deal on the XPS 17. We've built one as follows:

    i7-2630QM processor
    6GB Memory
LCD 17.3" FHD (1080p) with 2.0MP HD Webcam
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 550M 1GB Optimus
Hard Drive 500GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
Tray Load Blu-ray Disc BD-Combo (Reads BD and
    Writes to DVD/CD)
Sound JBL 2.1 Speakers with Waves Maxx Audio 3
    Backlit keyboard
    Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030 and Bluetooth
    3.0

With the "discount" Dell is currently offering and a $100 coupon code I found and applied, we have the pre-tax price at $1,099.99
As always, the collective brain power of bargain hunters and deal finders that reside here can always find ways to cut the price. :)
Anyone have a code or deal that I might have missed? Thank you!

There's usually one floating around for $350 off a configuration of $1600 or more. It stacks fine with the $100 off and the free shipping coupon. I'm afraid I don't have the current code for you, but it is likely out there. You could upgrade a few things and still come in cheaper! You just have to start with the base model for the $350 coupon.

The pre-tax pricing for the one in my sig (came with 4GB RAM and no SSD mind you, rest is stock) was around $1200 before I upgraded the warranty and such. 2 year full coverage (screen break, spills, etc) and tax brought it to just a touch over $1500 IIRC.

Just so you know, the Waves Max +$20 add-on is just a piece of software that most people seem to think isn't worth it. Might be for you though, idk.

Matt, thanks for the reply. Did some more digging around and found a coupon worth $150. It wasn't stackable with the $100 coupon I was already applying, but it's still $50 less.
BTW, I'm with you on that Waves Max add on. My config below doesn't include that software.

I used the $350 + $150 this weekend....that was the best I could find that worked together.

If we're talking about the same $350 coupon, that's the one that applies only for systems over $1,600. I'm not close to that.

I think we are. But if you spec something out at $1605, take off the $500, you are down to $1105...which gets you there. I'm not sure they 'build in' enough profit to make large coupons available to lower priced systems...so perhaps you could consider it.

Right now I'm at $1,049.99 with the above specs. Looking to knock it down another hundred or so and it's a deal.

Place the order and then call dell saying you want to cancel the order as better specs are available at a cheaper price from other brands, So they may offer you anything between 50-100 discount to keep the order.

I got $175 off in this way

MAY being the operative word. Plus, this isn't exactly perfectly honest behavior, some people don't feel right doing that.

OP: for the system you have speced out, you aren't going to get a straight-up lower price from Dell's site.
