Well, I finally bit the bullet and ordered.

I've been wanting to get a Dell for at least a year now, but never found the right combination of specs and price. This will replace my very aged (5 years) Toshiba with T2250 and 1G, which is painfully slow, especially when trying to multitask.

Am I excited? You betcha! Delivery is slated for November 25. Here's the specs:

    XPS 17 XPS 17
    Processor Intel® Core™ i5-560M (2.66GHz, 4 threads, turbo boost up to 3.33Ghz, 3M cache)
Memory 8GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 Memory
    Keyboard Backlit Keyboard - English
Video Card NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 435M 1GB graphics with Optimus
Hard Drive 640GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
System Color Silver Anodized Aluminum 17.3" HD+ (900p) WLED Display
Operating System Genuine Windows® Home Premium, 64-Bit, English
Integrated Network Adapter Integrated 10/100 Network Card
CD ROM/DVD ROM 8X Tray Load CD/DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)
Sound JBL 2.1 Speakers with Waves Maxx Audio 3
    Wireless Intel© Centrino© Ultimate-N 6300
Battery 56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
    Bluetooth Dell Bluetooth 3.0

Any other XPS 17 owners out there? Anyone taken delivery and have comments to share?

    cheers

It doesnt take longer becuase you are in Germany, it is more likely a component you have chosen is back ordered. They all ship from the China production plant.

I ordered a xps 15 on the 27th, I have an EDD of 22nd of Nov. A lot of UK people have an EDD of 15th of Nov, I think my delay is the 1080p screen upgrade

Yeah that could it be in my case too. I've ordered the same display. In your order confirmation what does it say as your ordered display description?

Mine says: Display : 15,6Zoll FHD TLF LCD L501X

I hink it's a bit confusing cause it doesn't say B+RG LED in the descrption.

    Mine says the same.
Dont worry, I have had these kind of oddities before on order summaries, they always turn up right.

Ok thank you for your answer. :)
I don't want to wait 4 weeks for it to arrive just to send it back the moment after :D

LOL, yes very good point! As I've seen others posting EDDs and seeing the dates slip ever closer to Christmas holiday time, I thought it best to get my order in, tout de suite. :)

I ordered my XPS 17 on the 22nd, and my EDD is 12th of november. I think Dell are taking lots of orders, so the later you order, the longer you're in line :(

I ordered my XPS 15 in the UK on 26th October and have an estimated delivery of 12th November. My machine is bog-standard i7 spec bar adding a Windows DVD, which I'm sure makes a difference to the delivery date.

Looks like the people who ordered when the unit first became available (Oct 21), should start receiving them within the next 2 weeks, such as yourself.

Be sure to post your impressions once received. :)
