Is anyone here having issues with the driver that was supplied with your new XPS? While everything else worked fine, the only problem I'm having is that it won't scroll with Firefox or Thunderbird mail. The one supplied with my XPS 17 is version OEM: 15.3.22.0 (R314726 or A01). I've tried using the latest one from Dell's driver download, it worked fine 'scrolling' but it won't function with 'Quickset' or FN+F3 when trying to disable/enable the pad. The little orange light comes on but the trackpad is not locking, whereas the new one worked with the Quickset and FN, BUT, it won't scroll with Mozilla-based programs such as Firefox and Thunderbird -- which is my default-mail source and browser.
This newer version that came with my computer is not even listed on Dell's d/l page yet. The latest driver for Synaptic for download is version R289237.

Anybody??...nobody here uses Firefox, or absolutely zero problems with your version of Synaptics?

I have the same machine with the original drivers which work. Just tonight I "upgraded" to the A01 driver and Firefox stopped scrolling. I was semi-smart and set a restore point before install and went back to the original drivers and all is well. Maybe you can search around for the A00 (just guessing at the number) drivers and try that.
It's ridiculous that the drivers don't work with the #2 browser.
Good luck. -
Disable scroll on Synaptics and use this one: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-drivers-software-forum/552462-twofingerscroll-two-finger-scrolling-done-right-more.html
Much much better, try it. -
I have the latest driver from Dell for the L702x. Scrolling does work in Firefox 9.0.1, but not as easily as in IE. Sometimes I have to tap kinda hard to get the "scrollbar" mouse pointer to appear. It's not consistent.
There's a registry change that will add a checkbox to the driver interface that you can use to disable the trackpad when an external USB mouse is plugged in, if that helps. Orange light comes on, and trackpad is disabled.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTPEnh]
"DisableIntPDFeature"=dword:00000033
You may need to make this enty in HKCU as well.
The checkbox appears on the Device Settings tab of the driver. -
Someone in another thread posted this Dell link to the original A00 Synaptics driver and he confirmed that it does work with Firefox:
