I have an awesome XPS 1710 that needs a video card. I just need a card so we can use it for watching TV and surfing the net and emails. I already spent $200.00 Plus on a 7900GS replacement and it started screwing up within a month of purchase. An ATI X1400 or some cheap vid card is all I need. Which ones fit? Thanks in advance.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Yes the X1400 is the best card that won't keep on failling, it's still expensive for what you are getting. Also works in E1705.

Ok thanks. I am going to bump this a few times in case someone here has access to a spare card. I really like the laptop and want to get it going again. An ATI card would be great, if I can get one reasonable.

Another option, although a bit more powerful than the 7900GS (double the VRAM, more speed) would be the 7950GTX. Here's one for $189 (No affiliation to link). The only thing with the 7950 that may be contentious is that stock 7950GTX is 575MHz / 700MHz, whereas Dell ones are 575MHz / 600MHz (to prevent overheating issues). As for failure rates, they're high, but only if you overclock it (again, poor design on Dell's part). If you just want it for tv conversion, you should be fine. I used to use mine as a TV with a hauppauge USB TV box when I was in Binghamton, and it served me quite well.
