    Greeting All,

Decided to upgrade my 1710 until some solid reviews come in on the Montevino equipped laptops.

    Today I ordered CT768340 4GB kit (2GBx2), 200-pin SODIMM Upgrade for a Dell XPS M1710 System and Western Digital Scorpio 320GB 2.5" Mobile Hard Drive - SATA-300, 5400, 8MB, OEM.

My question is this...when these come in, will I have to do anything special to upgrade, or is it pretty straightforward like upgrading a desktop?

I have an XPS 1710 w/T2600, 7900 GTX, 2MB RAM and 100g HD that I bought from Dell when the model was first released. I will be picking up Vista Ultimate 64 as well.

Thanks in advance for any guidance to make this a smooth process. I've never messed with updating laptops before....bill

It will be the same as doing it in a desktop, except for the obvious difference in form factor.

As tumnasgt said, it'll be a simple process. It might take slightly longer than it would in a desktop, but will not be any harder.
