I keep reading people say there will be a free video card upgrade for the xps 1730 when available. Is this really true. I can find nothing on Dells site to confirm this. If true, could someone point me in the right direction.

It's already avaliable. And the video card that comes with it is standard. Dual 512 mb 8700m GT
-
i doubt it will be free....but if u want to they will do it for a price..
-
Are you guys talking about upgrades to 8800m 's?
Well maybe because the price is so high, theyll offer upgrades... since they can put the 8700gt sli back in other notebooks -
yeah. the xps 1730 has dual 8700s. But I have read in a few other forums and posts that there will be a free upgrade for the 8700 at a later date. Just trying to figure out if this is true or just people throwing rumors out on the boards.

he meant 8800..
-
upgrade isn't free at all. Gen1 had same thing, and when the card was available, free installation by dell tech, but you certainly have to pay for the new card itself.
-
Too bad
lol
Well hopefully they wont cost 600 for 8800 sli upgrade -
cool. thanks achilles.. but is there any where on the dell site that says for sure the xps 1730 will be upgradeable in the future even if you have to pay for it? Or is this just an assumption since it was true for the gen 1 xps.
-
They will offer it
Dell is always late though, they offer the physX by Ageaia ROFL. -
Yeah, im looking right now... nope... cant find anything YET... lol

-
I was dumb enough to assume the upgrade offer was free, and found out I actually have to pay for the darn card lol. -
says here it is upgradeable.
