I notice that there are many threads here (such as http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-xps-studio-xps/521990-bios-modding-gpu-oc-fun-profit.html or http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...-software-updates-studioxps-1640-45-47-a.html) with dedicated Bios / Driver mods / updates.

Any chance of a simple list of current 701x Bios upgrades?

I apologise in advance if this information is contained elsewhere - I've not noticed it, or seen dedicated 701x stuff, so feel free to /close or simply give direct links.

    Simple q'tions:

    1) Bios - any major 701x upgrades, and if so, anyone know what current factory models ship compared to upgrades?
    2) http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...ic-driver-vs-modified-nvidia-driver-445m.html has 445M driver discussion - I've not seen any OC'ing (we're talking moderate, non-hardcore / easy-mode OC'ing here!) threads on the 445M, but perhaps I'm being blind
    3) Are there any appreciable gains to OCing a 445M? I see plenty in 420 -> 430 etc, but is the 445 at the end stakes of OCing?
    4) I noticed a rather strange post about removing dust filters leading to 10c reductions in GPU heat. Same case for 701x models? If so, anyone got a 3rd party dust filter solution [smoker - for my sins] that might provide filtration without so much heat increase? (Ideally - some kind of hybrid filter / heat disperser... swear I've seen these somewhere, not on these models though)

Please note: Non-pro thread starter. Ideally looking for stable, non-C intensive gains [e.g. within 5-9 C increase, performance 10-15%] & looking for professional / expert OCers input, which I will follow to the letter

I am overclocked from 590 800 to 770 960 and got a 19 percent improvement on framerate on Lost Planet. Looks like most people cant oc this high though, maybe they are just more cautious than me. No, I have not logged any temperatures like this. The Nvidia driver 266.44 makes a tiny bit of artifacts on Crysis on 1600X900 with settings on very high when running through the trees, but man does this driver make it smoother, makes it seem like its oced a lot further.

Other than how good of a video card you got, it can depend on the driver and the games you play. That is a nice OC though if you are playing Crysis and not crashing. I was going good with 750/890 then I tried Crysis Demo and crashed. When I went back to defaults, it played fine. I just wish the nvidia.com drivers would run a little cooler when not gaming so the fan would kick down to low.
