The more important question is, how reliable is this HWMonitor when it comes to battery wear measurements?

you can check ur wear on ur BIOS i believe. thats what the rep told me but i removed my battery. How does the battery warranty work? Cause I want a new one before a year is over. It got 5% wear after just a week.

DO NOT FULLY DISCHARGE. I lost 1-2% every single time I fully ran out of battery b/c I decided not to carry the charger with me to school. I've used my 9-cell for over 12 months, and capacity has dropped 9%.

I've never yet experienced losing capacity when I am charging and not let the battery run out on me. For the past 4 months, I've never drained the battery, and my capacity has stabilized at -9%, and the absolute max cap value has not dropped either.

I have a feeling you might've accelerated the loss of capacity by draining it.

Alternatively, you may have also had a slighly lower actual capacity to start with. (They usually all say 7800, but perhaps the actual max capacity when you received the battery was already <7800).

And actual maximum capacity may vary based on operating conditions, etc. The advertized maximum capacity is likely measured in optimal conditions and in a best-case use scenario. Actual usage of the battery is likely to diminish the maximum charge by a little at the start before it stabilizes eventually.

Don't confuse actual loss with reported loss. The "updates" occur when the battery is very low, but loss happens regardless.
