When I plug in headphones, my XPS13 prompts me with a window to switch sound to headphones.

Is there a way with the dell drivers to have it switch automatically? (like all other laptops I've used)

I'd rather not install new drivers if I don't have to.

    Just bumping this thread.

I have the exact same issue with the 9350. I'm thinking about uninstalling the drivers that come with the laptop and using the default window drivers but wanted to see if I could avoid that.

Seems a shame since my desktop not only switches to headphones when they're plugged in (or connected via bluetooth) but also remembers the last set volume level for that device and employs that (very useful with headphones that blow your ear drums up if used at speaker volume levels).

I'd also like to have my speakers muted at all times so when I unplug my headphones from the jack after studying in the library (or when moving or going to the bathroom or whatever) my laptop isn't making noise with windows dialogue and such (I can manually mute it each time I unplug but often forget). I just wish it had separate audio levels for speakers and headphones like every other windows device I've ever owned.

Also those annoying popups whenever you plug something in! (not the one you can disable, but ironically need to select the device, the one that comes up as a windows notification in the bottom right of the screen accompanied by that god awful noise). Can I disable those?

Update: Found it in notifications settings (type into cortana box) and then disabling realtek notification permissions.
