After installing Windows 8.1 Pro and installed a new MSata drive, the Realtek Audio stopped working.
I have of course checked that Realtek HD Audio is default under Playback devices, when I play sounds the little sound level indicator moves but no sound at all.
Even the same thing after installing Windows 10.
The only way to get sound is to uninstall the Realtek HD Audio driver and revert back to Microsoft default driver.
Anyone got the same problem or know anything about this issue?

Definitely sounds like a driver issue. Are you sure you are using g the correct driver package?
Also, what happens if you plug headphones in? Any sound?
As for what to do... If you can't figure it out, just use the windows default driver. The realtek driver doesn't really add anything valuable. -
I am using the latest driver package. But earlier versions haven't worked either with Windows 8.1.
No sound at all with headphones.
I think there are som drawbacks with the Windows driver. The Realtek drivers has more settings to maximize the quality. Also, Windows 10 reverts to Realtek driver when I reboot the system. Can I stop Windows from reverting to Realtek driver? -
I manually replaced the driver för Realtek HD Audio with the Windows native driver. Its working now but no Realtek HD Audio configuration dialog.

Have has similar sound issues, with this symptom:
Playback device switches to a bluetooth audio device (previously paired, but not powered on).
Audio unable to switch back to speakers without uninstall/reinstall audio device and restart.
