    Hello,

I've seen some mention of this problem on the owners thread wither other phones but its hard to get any attention there, and I think this deserves its own topic.

I have been trying to connect my blackberry z10 to my xps 15 9530. It is running win 8.1. The phone will start charging but the drivers will not install and no sound is made to indicate a usb connection has been made.

Things I have tried so far:
    - tried connecting the phone to all ports, 3 usb 3.0 ports and 1 usb 2.0 port, no connection, although it will start charging
    - tried connecting external hard drives and usb sticks, they are able to connect fine.
    - tried connecting the phone to my old inspiron 6400, it connects fine.

its really weird, because i have confirmed the phone works on another system and i have confirmed that other usb devices work on this system, its the combination of the two that doesnt get along.

has anyone had this problem and been able to by pass it? any suggestions from anyone? i know someone else was having problems with their galaxy s 3.

I too cannot connect my Samsung galaxy s4 (sprint), using usb, or Bluetooth...does your phone connect via BT? ive tried to get Samsung and dell to work on the issue, neither have any suggestions.

my phone pairs with pc over BT, but only stays "connected" for about 7 seconds...then it says "not connected" ive uninstalled and reinstalled all the BT drivers

my galaxy s4 will connect via usb on my old inspiron vista, and also, all my usb ports on the 9530 work as expected on all my other peripheral devices

    this sux

My phone has the option to map the built-in memory and SD card as separate drives on the computer when it they on the same WiFi network. This works perfectly fine. I can drop files into the networked SD card drive and files will upload to the phone perfectly.

It is only when I try to connect it via USB. For most of my things I can do with Wifi. I just need the USB to backup my phone. So not super annoying for me yet.

The way it works is if my Blackberry z10 and the Laptop are on the same wifi network blackberry link will automatically map the drives on my laptop. Thats it.

haha, yeah it is a very nice feature, no need to enable mass storage or anything, just have some drives sitting there ready to be used. what's even cooler is that if i leave my laptop on and go out of the range of wifi, it goes on the the cell network and also lets me access the laptop drive. its like a private cloud.

whats not nice is that I cant backup my phone until i resolve it. but i should be ok for a few months....until i figure it out.

This is pretty much the same thing as Blackberry Link for the Samsung Galaxy S4.

My Nokia 920 (windows phone) works fine via usb to the win 8.1 app. But I can't get it working via bluetooth, keeps disconnecting. I managed to transfer a picture from the phone to the pc after several attemps, but it doesn't feel like a stabil connection.

Anybody else having problems with bluetooth?

Did you install Samsung kies? It also installs all the necessary drivers to connect the phone to pc via usb. I had this problem with my old xps and galaxy s3. Installing Samsung kies on my laptop solved it.

    Hi,

I am experiencing exactly the same issue as spano originally documented. I have tried the same things he has and my z10 successfully connects to both my Windows 7 machines, but not to the XPS 9530 running Windows 8.1. Like spano, my phone chrges but there is no install sound and the drivers don't appear to load (at least theer is no notification that this is happening). Has anyone had success in fixing this?.

I was having similar issues with Dell XPS 15 (9530), Windows 8.1 and a HTC Android phone. It would connect then drop out, and repeat infinitum (complete with the resulting McAfee prompts telling me there is a problem with the drive!).

For other reasons, a couple of days ago I installed the Android development kit, which I noticed happens to include a Google USB driver. Since the install (immediately after, and after one shut-down/restart cycle), I've had no issues with USB connection to the phone.

USB3 to ethernet adapter however is still another issue...

Unfortunately I have yet to get past this problem. Tried a million things. Just plugged it into a Dell Inspiron 7000 and it recognized the phone without any problems. This is very frustrating.
