XPS 9550 - ACHI or Raid?

I just finished upgrading my trusty old 9550 with a 1TB 970 EVO and new install of Win10, under Raid. Disk speeds are good and I have only had one BSOD in the last couple of days (while getting the all the drivers/apps/data reloaded).

Is there anything significant to be gained from switching over to ACHI and the samsung NVMe driver/magician? System stability is more important to me than a small speed gain. I have read through the various threads here on this topic until I'm blue in the face without seeing any clear consensus.

I've been very happy with this laptop thanks in large part to all the knowledge I have gained from this forum.

I went AHCI + Samsung NVMe driver because there was a considerable speed difference at the time. Google up what speeds others get with the 970 EVO in CDM and decide.
Dell officially supports RAID only.
I recall Linux doesn't work with RAID if you want dual boot?

From what I've seen, there is very little speed to be gained, but still interested in other factors, like stability or being able to update firmware.

 

With the 850 PRO in AHCI I've had stability issues once that were most probably related to a new verison of the Samsung NVMe driver. Was okay after reverting (tricky to get because Samsung doesn't store older versions), and I haven't updated it since.

Yes Samsung Magician didn't see the drive with the RAID controller active. I understand that was a deficiency of the Samsung Magician, don't know if still so. In case an urgent update was needed, you could switch temporarily (but make sure you study hoe to do it carefully, and make a backup firstly).
