I realize there a few other threads about this topic but I'm trying to isolate the problem. I have it setup to sleep on battery after 10 minutes. So when I'm done at work, hit the Microsoft Key + L to lock my screen, close the lid, and then the laptop is supposed to sleep.
I put it in my bag, get home, only to find the laptop has not gone to sleep, is extremely warm to the touch and when I open the lid/screen, it immediately shows me my lock screen for me to login.
What do I have to do in order to get his laptop to sleep properly? What am I missing here? Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks

In Advanced power settings, set "Hibernate after" to Never, if is not already. It is a known issue that the switchover to hibernation fails and the laptop wakes up instead (to an odd state).

It might be a good idea to raise this issue again with Dell support. I have, but it seems no progress in half a year. It is not an innocent thing, in the context of reported incidents of battery swelling noticed by a stiff trackpad - the heat due to the laptop cooking itself in the backpack might contribute to this.

open an elevated command prompt and type
powercfg -requests
paste the results.
