Hi, today I tried to upgrade RAM in my XPS 15 9550 from 16 GB to 32 GB - 2x16 GB HyperX Impact 2400 Mhz 14 CL and it doesn't work. At least it doesn't work in configuration I'd like it to work. I can't get it to boot when both new sticks are inserted. What is strange I works perfectly with one stick inserted but only in slot called "Dimm B" on motherboard. What is more weird it works fine when I put one old 8 GB stick + one new stick. To clear it out: DIMM B DIMM A WORKES
    16 GB empty OK
    16 GB 8GB OK
    8 GB 16 GB OK
    empty 16 GB Not OK
16 GB 16 GB Not OK

Obviously first I thought that one of the stick might be broken but it looks that both are fine. Doesn't matter which one I put in configurations described above it works in the way I wrote. Checked with BIOS 1.2.10 and with newest 1.2.13. Do you have any idea what might be wrong?

    Very strange!

It's a long shot but my computer engineer buddy told me the contacts on RAM are hyper sensitive to dirt, dust, fingerprints so but maybe try cleaning them with electronics-grade cleaner and reinserting a few times?

FYI - A NBR user here named "TDO: is running 2400Mhz 32GB HyperX memory (on XPS i7 6700HQ; see the screen shot as it runs at full 2400Mhz).

Several NBR people are running the HyperX in 8GB and 16GB; I have seen reviews at amazon or newegg of users stating HyperX works on the 9550 (maybe some of the same people). And this guy from China is running 16GB HyperX memory HyperX memory (on XPS i7 6700HQ; see the screen shot as it also runs at full 2400Mhz)

I don't think I have seen anyone with a 9550 having problems with HyperX Impact RAM

I'll try reinserting sticks but I think there must be something else wrong with my computer. I know that this memory should work with this particular model but if there's no other way to make it work I'll try to replace memory with different ones.

The same pattern of working and not working.

Unfortunately no. I've even tried different bios versions - still without success. If you find one let us know what causes this situation.

I recently purchased the HyperX Impact 32GB 2400 RAM modules but have not yet installed so hope these are isolated incidents

czanek - What is the size and speed of your RAM modules? Where did you buy them?

    I've got 32GB 2400 from Amazon...

I literally found one thread about this issue - this one, so it seems rather rare, but still annoying! :)

I'm returning those and getting Ballisticx Sport 2400, hope they'll work without any problems...

Are you running i5 or i7?

Why don't you search the forums here and on newegg.com and amazon.com to see what RAM seems to work with the 9550. I have seen lots of success with the HyperX and RipJaws. I don't remember the Ballisticx but do a search

I have this exact config in my laptop and it's working fine.

The part number of the RAM I used is: KHX2400C14S4/16G

Just to add to the mix, I'm on 16GB (2x8GB) HyperX Impact in my i5 and it only runs at 2133MHz. HWiNFO lists it as 2400MHz capable, but the laptop runs it slower.

HyperX Impact 32 GB (2x16GB) 2400 on my 9550 i5 runs fine . I started it several times, surfed the internet and ran the Dell F12 memory test without incident. CL13 reported at 2133MHz in HWiNFO64

These seem to have several part numbers. Mine was: HX424S14IBK2/
