so what did you guys end up paying for your xps? cant get dell rep to do better than 1349 for the xps 15 9550, i7, 8gb ram, 256ssd, 1080p. seems high for these specs.
my old l502x xps 15 gave me so many issues with the fan, i dont know why i still want this so bad...
-
I'd call that decent personally. You are paying for the thinness of the system as well, that's just how the market is.
If you're a student, the Microsoft Store has some nice discounts, better than what I could get from Dell, so that's where my XPS came from. I bought mine in Canada, so there's no point comparing prices considering what the Canadian dollar is worth (or isn't) at the moment.
If there's one thing I gotta give credit to Dell for, it's for their redesign of the XPS series, both this gen and the last gen were designed pretty decently. Well, given that the XPS 15 and Precision 5510 share the same chassis, they couldn't really skimp on the design because of who they market the Precision to, it has to be able to handle continuous use. -
You can get a certified refurbished 9550 with identical specs on ebay in the 1100$ range. Free ship, no tax, and you still get a 1yr warranty.

i found a 9550 in the dell outlet. i7 6700, 512gb ssd, 16gb ram, fhd. certified refurbished. with coupon comes to 1,175. bah, i just passed it up and will wait. not sure how good a refurb is
-
I got a brand new sealed xps 15 9550 on ebay for a lot less than Dell's price (or anyone else's price for that matter) and it came with warranty until March 2017. Also I wouldn't hesitate to get refurbished if the price is right especially some refurbished units on ebay comes with next business day home service.

Paid usd2k for 4k 512gb ssd i7. But is 4 years pro Support and accidentally damage protection
-
For the i7, 512gb ssd, 16gb ram, 4K I got 15% off list price which I guess would make it about $1785 before tax. Bought it from the Microsoft store using a teacher discount (my wife is a teacher). She wasn't actually with me when I went there but I asked if they could apply the discount anyway without me having to come back with her and they did it.

1150$ + taxes.. i5 / 8gb / 1tb drive / 1080p. I bought a 950 pro for $270 though.
-
$1452 + tax for the i7/FHD/16 GB/512 SSD variant.

I bought it at dell.com (the FHD model is not available at the MS store anyway).
MRSP shows as $1,780 on the dell site so I guess that works out to an 18.5% discount. There was a 10% off XPS coupon recent which accounts for more than half of that - the rest was just asking the rep for a discount. -
-
1750+taxes @ Microsoft Store.

You can just call up and ask for discounts. Say you can't afford it. If it doesn't work, just try another rep. It didn't take me long to shave a few $100 off. -
how do I get emailed dell outlet coupons?

In a similar vein, I see a deal on the Dell US business outlet for the 5510. I bought an Xeon/16GB/4k/256 for 1050 after calling to get a $500 off coupon applied. I saw an Xeon/16GB/4k/TB PCIe for 1460 by the same deal but decided to pass (I'm going to sell one of my XPS 15s and swap the hard drive into the Precision. The deal is still active until tonight:
