My XPS 9560 is my main work computer. I keep it plugged in to the WD15 docking station through the USB-C connection and it runs off of two 1080p monitors. Had it for a little over a month and until today it has been great.
I noticed that the indicator light just below the track pad began flashing orange today. Hovered over the charging icon on the taskbar and it reads "92% available (plugged in, not charging).
AIDA64 says battery wear level is at 4% and the voltage is 12.4V.
I unplug the USB-C cable and *blink* - shuts down.
Tried attaching the AC Adaptor (130W) and it will power on no problem but same symptoms. Still blinking orange and drops dead the instant i pull the plug out of the laptop.
I'd love to be able to calibrate it but it's behaving as if there was no battery in it at all.
When I press the button for the battery indicator on the side lights 1-3-5 blink 4 times.
Finally spent 40min on the phone with dell and ran their battery diagnostic and got an error code of 2000-0132.
They are sending a new battery out for field replace.
Had the laptop for a little over a month and this will be my second field replacement (1st was the screen due to a piece of dust trapped between the glass and the panel.)
So - I assume there's no quick fix.
Is it a bad idea to leave it plugged in to the dock and on during the day?

My 9550 did the same thing. Only problem was the replacement battery didn't fix it, it needed a new MB. Hope it works for you.
Also leaving it plugged in is fine. -
However, this has nothing to do with your current problem -- the degradation from use and/or charging happens over years, not in one months. You just have a case of hardware failure. -
Been struggling with this problem for a while now. Tried different chargers, checked the battery. Someone suggested it was a MB problem, but have decided to first get repair of the charging port. Will soon know.

I have this exact issue, anyone find a solution?

Not great I know but the battery should be new, any sign of it being 2nd hand send the engineer packing.
As for the screen issues I had the same, I think it was the 9550 I had, can't remember why the 1st went back, probably a dead pixel. 2nd arrived with what looked like a hair trapped under the glass so I rang up and demanded a 3rd. 3rd came with an IDENTICAL hair so obviously it was a production issue. The cockwomble at Dell didn't believe me so I sent him a video, 4th was ordered after much fighting with the resolutions team but i managed to give the womble the order code off the 1tb version with 32gb of ram and got away with it as compensation for the 1st 3. -
Same issue last year. Messed with new chargers and had the port changed but had to get the motherboard replaced. Battery was fine.
XPS 9560 Battery Fail? - Blinking orange light and no juice from the battery
