    Hi all,

I have a very strange problem with my new XPS 15 and TB16 dock in that all the ethernet, power, display ports all work fine but none of the USB mouse, keyboard and headset works at all! They are fine when plugged directly into the laptop but of course I want to use the dock!

What's even stranger is that I can connect my SD card reader to these same ports on the and that works fine in some of them but not others (1 of the USB 3.0 on the front and 1 of the USB 2.0 ports on the back). What on earth is going on, is it a hardware fault you think?

So far I've tried the following to fix this and absolutely nothing has made any kind of difference:
    • Install the following from Dell support for XPS 15 9560:
    • Set "Security level – No Security" in USB/Thunderbolt Configuration in the BIOS
    • Enable Thunderbolt Boot Support in USB/Thunderbolt Configuration in the BIOS
    • Unplugged and replugged in TB3 cable every time any of the above are done
I'm now stuck! :( Thanks if you can help!

Well, not quite but I at least have a workaround for now that may assist some of you. I guess you need to make sure you've already done the steps I've done above and then:
    1. Unplug the TB3 cable from the laptop
    2. Unplug the power from the TB3 dock
    3. Unplug all USBs from the TB3 dock
    4. Plug the power back into the TB3 dock
    5. Plug the TB3 cable back into the laptop
    6. Plug the USB back into the dock
    7. After this, Windows should chime the sound it's recognised and install any drivers as normal
Of course this might work on its own without all the steps in my original post above (I just haven't tested it yet)

Do you have any 4k external displays connected to your TB16? I'm considering purchasing it as the WD15 dock I have does not support 4k resolution at 60Hz.

Nope but I'm trying to get some through work! :) the dock can handle 2x4K screens at 60Hz

Be warned! Most of these laptops does not support the bandwidth needed for two 4k displays through the dock as they are not operating at full bandwidth of the possible TB3 specification! Only half! This means (and by experience btw) that the screens will operate iffy from time to time. I had to change to just one screen because of this. Make sure you check if you a TB3 port will full bandwidth first!
