@barlow00
This is strange because there are L701X keyboards with the french layout.
But, Ok, hoping you'll have L501X backlit keyboars with the french layout.
Thank you.
@J1mb0
The L501X backlit keyboard is not the same for L502X.

No they are different keyboards...the newer Lx02x machines come with chiclet style.
I can't get these yet but am on the lookout as everybody is asking about them!

We don't get a steady supply of these keyboards...I'm actually emailng suppliers every week asking for stock lists and when I see something in demand, I buy them in.
Don't worry though, I will post on here as soon as I hear anything.

Hi guys! I'm in the same situation as Raji_D, I also got mine from Microsoft.
I fell in love with the XPS 14 (L410x) when I was looking for a laptop. I had one restriction, and it was to have a backlit keyboard. The XPS 14 wasn't cheap, since I live in Australia, it cost $1400 for the whole package.
The student offer was about $1k + shipping.
Too bad it lost a of things, like the option of having extras like 3D, i7 and the msot important of all, the backlit keyboard.
I'm extremely upset that I can't get my hands on a cheap backlit keyboard in Aus, it cost about $115 dollars. $200 something for me to send my keyboard over for the Dell techs to alter it.
So if anyone knows any (backlit) keyboards that are compatible with XPS 14, please tell. :{ -
Not 100% sure about the cabling layout on the back. If you want to email me at [email protected] and I will email you a photo of our backlit.
You can then check the motherboard yourself to see if it will fit. We sell them much cheaper than Dell are quoting you too.
Cheers

All of you can use cheap and easily available Studio 1450 backlit keyboard:

Works like a charm! -
Where's the cheapest place to get it from? Not so cheap at 40$
-
....I have missed out here as I have only been advertising them as compatible with the XPS15 L501x !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
=D
Unfortunately, those keyboards aren't sold in France. Simply because the Studio 1450 never came out in France it he won't. =( -

DELL Studio 1450 1457 1458 Black Backlit Keyboard US | eBay
Lets see how it goes. DJing in dark clubs is too hard withouth backlit. The new lg screen tho makes a world of difference. Viewing angles are great. Ill update when i get the board n put it in. If it doesnt work, no biggie, only 35 bucks -
Just for reference purposes.
The correct backlit keyboard for L502X is:
PVDG3 KEYBOARD..., 86, UNITED STATES..., ENGLAND/ENGLISH..., C12SB -
Took the plunge, waiting for the keyboard to arrive now!

I know the L501X and L502X use different keyboards, one is chicklet style. My question is are they the same size and are the cables the same. I would rather have the 502 keyboard on my 501.
Thanks -

This is the same problem on the L501X. Between the keyboards of a L501X and a L502X, the screw fixture are not the same.
French L501X users have tried to install a L502X keyboard on a L501X and they failed. -
So wait back to the topic. Can a non-backlit keyboard L502x add this part to make a backlit keyboard -- or will the power be missing? Sorry about to buy one and would like to pass before

The problem is trying to find a illuminated keyboard for the L502x (or L702x)...I know in the UK (and possibly Europe) there are no 3rd party sellers offering these boards. (Unless you are lucky enough to know a reseller).
UPDATE: L702x and L502x keyboards are now available in the 3rd party market......yay!!!!!
Cheers

Fitted the keyboard today. Well impressed! Keys do not rattle like on the original XPS keyboard, backlit is great.
Only one thing that needs getting used to is the small size of Enter key compared to the original one.
All in all it was worth it, a fairly cheap upgrade adding usability to the laptop and getting rid of annoying rattle. -
Does anyone have the #number for a Swedish or Nordic backlit keyboard?
