This situation is totally killing me. I received my L502X a few days ago and it is exactly everything I want in a computer: I7, 8GB, BluRay Burner, 1080P and there is good sound and power management. The only problem is that it is definitely not a thin and light computer. I am coming from an M1330 which is pretty small and slim and the L502X is just HUGE!

I know that it is all subjective but will I get used to this?

It's up to you really. If you don't want it can I have it?

    Thanks :)

The XPS 17 is a desktop replacement. If you want more portability send it back for a refund and get an XPS 15 or 15z. You can get the same specs in an XPS 15 except the GPU (if you got the 555M).

Oops...I miss read what you have. Thought that said L702X. Either get a 15z or go with a smaller screen.

You can remove the optical drive to make it lighter. To flatten would however require replacing the system with something like a 15" HP DV6 or Dell XPS 15Z, 14" Lenovo Y470 + 900P LCD swapout or 14/13" Sony CA/SA.

I mean, the screen is so totally sick. I have been "enjoying" watching 1080P content. It is like a portable concert. I am really impressed. I don't want to step down to a 15z. I like the thin profile but in every other way this computer trumps it.

    Ohhh...what to do?

I did the same m1330 to XPS 15 switch. At first, you really notice the size and weight difference, but you will eventually love the screen beyond belief. The XPS m1330 LED screen now looks like garbage.

I say keep it. I don't plan on carrying the XPS 15 around anyways; have a Lenovo x120e for that.

I already love the screen beyond belief. It is the best screen I own.

As someone else said, Lenovo y570 + HP dv6t are smaller. Try those if you want.

The HP can give you similar specs for a comparable price, and is much thinner.

Or you can just stick with the XPS so long you don't plan on moving it much
