I was wondering if anyone can recommend a cooling pad for my XPS L502X? I was searching the forums and found info for some of the older XPS's, but I could not find opinions for the L502X. Are they really necessary? I have seen my processor hit 95c and I know that they are designed for 100c, but I do not really like it running that hot. I just am not sure how well cooling pads work.
Thanks

This is what I got.

Last time I checked ( a year ago) it was the best one atleast for the sxps 16 but I have a xps 15 now and it works great -
I refuse to believe that cooling pads work for anyone!
I've tried at least 6 cooling pads (Zalman, Notepal ect.), and not just the cheap ones! I've tried them with the inspiron 9400 and the new xps 17. The temps didn't even go down a single °C. The xps 17 even got hotter when using notepal u3, even if i placed the fan directly under the vent!!!
The only thing that ever worked was a 5$ usb powered ventilator, which was loud as hell, but very powerful. I placed it directly behind the Inspiron (which had the vents on the rear side, not the bottom), and it worked!
So my question ist: do you guys who claim that cooling pads work even measure your temps? Or do you just think the hardware is cooler because the bottom of the laptop is cooler? -
Well some folks got better temps just from using the bigger 9cell battery , which gives the laptop a little lift and thus better air flow , you dont have to believe it , my cooling pad works for me , dont expect huge difference in the temps 1 to 3 degrees C is what i am getting , the highest temperature i have seen on my machine was 71 C ( synthetic benchmark ) when playing i am getting temps from 51 to 68 C ( depends on game ) , these are on the GPU which is overclocked to 800MHz - i am happy with that .

Well I ended up going with the U3 because I liked the idea of being able to move the fans to the position of the vents on the bottom. My laptop seems to run much cooler and normally only gets to about 80 deg c on the CPU while gaming. I also really like the angle that the U3 puts the notebook on it makes for a very comfortable experience.
