    hi guys,

I have bought a brand new Dell xps L502X I reinstalled the windows, I installed all required drivers but there is no 1920 x 1080 resolution. 1336 x 768

The custom resolution of the intel graphic media control panel cannot accept it.

I also tried the Registert edit I found on this forum but the file which should be edited does not exist.

    I really need help.

    thanks,

Did you order it with FHD B+RGLED TL 1920x1080?
If so tell Dell about your problem, you have a 720p screen.

strange! when I entered my service tag it said my laptop is Inspiron N4020

so maybe I was wrong in installing the proper drivers. huh?

According to the service tag the system thinks it is Inspiron N4020 but it is actually XPS l502x

That is another problem with the Dell website, not related to your problem.

Did you pay for a FHD version? If so, call them and ask them to replace it.

Yeah, call them up. They might try to convince you to have a tech come out and replace it, tell them that's no good and you want a new unit because they screwed up.

What price did you pay, what coupons did you use, and what's the entire configuration? Try pricing out another config just like yours + 1080p, to see if the 1080p screen was in fact included in the price you paid.

    Also could you run HWInfo
    HWiNFO32 Download
and post what it says under "Monitor"
I'd like to know if Dell ever ships the LG 720p screen anymore or just the crappy AUO one.

If you're in Iran and you bought it in a shop, probably the only thing you can do is try to find the parts to swap out the screen.

That means it is an AUO screen, which apparently is a pretty poor screen. Me, I've never been a screen freak, but then again I've never had a GREAT screen to spoil me. Your configuration clearly shows that you only have the 768p display, so that one cannot run FHD. Sorry, but swapping the screen or hooking up to an external monitor, you will be able to do FHD 1080p.

The L502x comes with DisplayPort too, so that works.

You can use an adapter, but it works best if you use straight HDMI.

There are mini-Display Port to DVI/VGA adapters out there if needed though. I might get one myself since both my monitors are DVI and I'd like to use this at my desk now and then.

actually if you use HDMI it will only use nvidia graphics, if you use display port it can use either just like it's internal screen.
