    Hi,

I have a problem with a brand new Dell XPS wireless card. The laptop cannot detect the card, it only detects and installs the bluetooth. I have re-installed windows and same problem, I booted with ubuntu and wireless card still not detected. I also tried with a live win xp disc but same problem. I replaced the card with a working one from another identical but still does not work. The original card works in the other laptop!!

The FN+F2 only switches off/on the bluetooth. In the device manager I dont see any uninstalled network cards...

Could be a Mobo problem?? I see it very strange :(

I have tried all the options, any ideas?

Did you try a known good half height WLAN card? If it does not work, likely you have a bad mini PCI-E slot which means mobo replacement.

    Hi, thanks for the reply!

I swapped with with another working card from a laptop (same model) and still does not work. Strangely enough, there are no problems with bluetooth!

    Hello Jpattard,

The issue may be with the motherboard on the computer as the computer unable to detect a known good wireless card and the wireless card on this computer works fine on an other computer.

Let us first try to update the BIOS on the computer and check if the card gets detected.

To update the BIOS on the computer, please download the latest BIOS from the weblink below

Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

Please check if the card gets detected on the computer after the BIOS is updated.

Incase, the issue is not fixed, please send me a direct message with the service tag of the computer. Please do not post the service tag / personal information on the public forum.
