There is a sheet of transparent plastic film that fits down into the keyboard, around every key.

Is that a temporary protective sheet that is intended to be removed, like the film over the big Dell logo on the laptop cover.
Or, is that film/sheet a permanent component?

I ask because the top left corner of mine, around Esc and ~ keys, is curling and lifting on my one-week-old XPS 15.

There was also one on the subwoofer on my l702x that took a little longer to start to peel but you have one there too.

As you suspected, it's meant to be removed.

Thanks. There is not a film on my sub-woofer. Glad to hear the keyboard film is intended as temporary.

I leave mine on the plastic on the cover and keyboard until it starts to come off itself. Keeps it clean.

I also thought that at first until it started to come off.
