I have a Dell l702x laptop. After the latest update, the Webcam cannot be seen by either Skype or the Windows Camera. Everything was running fine before the update. (However, when it first upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 I had the same issue but it was sorted by updating the webcam drivers.)

The camera reports back with "something went wrong 0xA00F4271(0x8007001F)". This is the same error I have been receiving all along. If I try Skype, it too says it can't find the camera.

I strongly suspect that the drivers in Windows 10 update are not compatible with my machine. However, I don't know how to get rid of them without Windows automatically re-installing them or screwing around in the registry without doin something that I may later regret.

I have other older drivers but even if I take the option of choosing to install those rather, Windows comes back saying its driver are the newest and best for this hardware and I cannot get around that.

    In trying to get it working again, I have;

Changed the privacy setting for the camera
Checked that both apps have permission to use the webcam
    Turned off the anti-virus.
Tried uninstalling drivers and devices and rebooting or Updating drivers from files that hold other drivers - no luck.
Tried to install generic drivers, Windows always states it has the better ones
Tried removing the camera app, nothing happened.
    Tried other camera apps
    Tried creating another user profile

I have tried, it seems every method suggested, on forums such as these.

I haven't physically gone and removed the Windows drivers.

Any off the wall suggestions or ideas.

    Thanks in advance

Come on guys, surely there are those among you with a L702x running the latest version of Windows 10 and not having issues with their webcams?

    All ears...

If you install your drivers and Windows 10 updates them to something different, you should be able to update the drivers back to the ones that you installed in Device Manager.
Right-click the device in Device Manager-> Update-> Browse-> Let me pick-> Pick the old driver. It should stick for a while after that. There might even be a way to disable updates after that, but I haven't needed to.

    Hi Namaki,

Yes in my frustration, I found out how to force the computer to do that. I tried various drivers with no success.

So I now think that it either a driver issue, or that something else is using the camera.

Originally, the webcam drivers/hardware can only be used by one program at a time. In Windows 10, the software can have multiple programs using the cam simultaneously. I think this is causing a conflict?

I wish I could help! Same problem with a friend's L502x. Absolute nightmare. Even plugging in a USB external camera yields the same results. Hoping to find a fix and will post here if I do! Would be grateful if anyone else can help out also.....
