Ok, somehow, someone using my laptop (could very well have been me  ) has disabled my built-in microphone. I can't find anything allowing me to turn it back on anywhere. It's as if Vista doesn't detect it even being plugged in. Where should I start looking for an option to turn it back on or reinstall it? I have looked and looked and can't figure this out.

    Thanks in advance

Thanks alot Brawn. Actually there was no icon for "microphone for quickcam" but there was a different one. I right-clicked that one and saw an option to show disabled devices. Then my microphone popped up after i enabled that option.
    Thanks!
