When you order an XPS M1330, do you get a real Windows Vista full-version DVD or only a recovery DVD. Thanks

It is an OEM DVD. Used for recovery only, so no you cannot use it elsewhere.

Techman:
The XPS laptops come with OS reinstall DVD's. While they are recovery discs in the sense that they are tied to Dell machines, these are fairly normal OS discs which run the normal Vista install process, not an image that restores a canned image of a machine. So, using the OS disc will give you a fairly clean Windows install with no trial software etc.
Even my Inspiron 600m OS disk back in the day was this way and I was able to slipstream or integrate Windows service packs to create an up to date XP restore CD etc.

It's a brand specific DVD so it only runs on the correct machine (and you don't need to type in a key) but it is a completely fresh version with no dell bloatware on it.
