    Hi Guys

First post here but have been lurking for a while, great info on this forum.

I'm in a little pickle, I've just got a new work laptop (XPS M1330) and love it, enjoying vista and all. Anyway, I'm going way on holiday on monday and want to take my laptop with to watch dvd's, download pics and play Gears of war. I've heard about updating the driver for the video card but all the posts I have read are quite old so I was wondering what the latest driver I need is. I'm going to follow the instructions on a post from one of the gentleman on here (updating the infi file and all that) but any extra advise would be good.

    Thanks in advance

    B

Just go to www.laptopvideo2go.com and download the latest ones they have there (I believe their like 169.2x or something like that). That's pretty much it.

nVidia has a unified driver, meaning it supports all nVidia cards (including 8400MGS).

There is a tweak (under sig below) that may help with downloading and installing the video driver.

I would recommend 169.04 from www.laptopvideo2go.com. It is a very stable driver on my M1330, and I have even gotten it to overclock and it is still really stable in games.

Sorry for the late reply. As Kozzney said and as I said on my original post, 169.04 has been the most stable driver for my system. My computer specs are pretty much the same as Kozzney's and after testing various builds, I keep going back to 169.04 which hasn't done anything noteworthy to my system causing me to want to remove it for another driver build.

well gents, you're all a bunch of legends !!

went for the 169.04 and after dowloading the 7up (or whatever the hell it's called zipping program) installed restarted, cleaned up (beautiful walk through Flamenco) & got gears of working. No crashes yet and vista still seems to be happy.

I'm well chuffed, thanks for the help guys !

Sorry, don't own the game so wouldn't know how to advise you on how to tweak the video settings. Impressed that you are running Gears with the 8400GS card as that Unreal Engine III is pretty demanding.

Will do a bump to the thread in case anyone out there that's playing Gears of War on their M1330 can provide some insight for the video resolution.

    hey there,
I'm using a 8400GS as well, in my 1530, got the latest drivers from dell, everything ok, I don't do to much gamming, or not at all, for now...
My question is ...witch driver or how do I know witch manages heat better . (XPS+nVidia owner eternal worry), ...or it doesn't have anything to do with the GPU driver?
    Cheers
