I actually have TWO 9-Cells, and they are both drain pathetically fast, whereas when I got it in August 2007, they lasted at least twice that. Is there a way to fix whatever is causing this problem?![]()

My 9 cell for my 1530 started doing that a few weeks ago...It wouldn't hold a charge..did numerous things to test it, and still wouldn't stay *fully charged*.
It was just a tad over one year old!So, I contacted Dell..and even though I was *technically* out of the 1 year warranty period, they still decided to send me a new one, as a show of *good will*
I don't know..but maybe contact Dell, and see if they might do something similar for you..even though you are out of warranty??
Good luck!

wooahhh that badd :/ anyway of maybe downgrading BIOS? :/
-
I explained that the battery lifetime was cut short because of the excessive usage of the fan, resulting from the bios, resulting from the defective overheating nvidia chip.
I mean they extend an extra 12 months on the computer because of the defect, but not the battery? -
A Bios downgrade should be possible by just installing an older bios...even though i dont think that the
fan drains your battery this bad... -
When, the Resolution Specialist calls you back...ask them what they are going to do, to resolve this issue. Tell them you are a loyal Dell customer, and in fact are pondering purchasing a new lappy fairly soon.
I know it sounds odd to phrase things like that. But, it does help.
I'm curious of what your outcome will be. If not, there is the Unresolved Issues Form you can complete, and see how it go's.

Using full brightness, the first has been on for 30 minutes and now it says 70% remaining, 1 hour 6 minute. (The % seems accurate but the time left can vary up to 20 minutes.) -
I do not question your tests just dont think that the fan uses that much power
-
It's been one hour, full brightness, always on, 35% remaining, 35 minutes left.
I wonder how the minutes remaining are calculated. -
It just died even though it said "9% 9 minutes"
So the total is 85 minutes. -
I guess the only thing I can do now is get a new battery and test that one. The resolution dept. didn't call me back yet, but I will figure out how to get a free battery one way or another. Then I will time it, just to see how long a fresh one should last. If its long enough, I will accept it as a battery issue, but if not, then something else has to be done.
XPS M1330 9-Cell battery now only lasts about 100 minutes after updating drivers and bios
