i have a Dell XPS M1330 , First problem was a GPU failure & i had to change the motherboard ( Nvidia GPU ) . & it worked great .

After that the charger is no more working, And i had to order a new one & everything went great also .

A weak ago, It started to show a battery failure " Battery not detected " error message . But it's still running with Power Adapter .

The serious problem is that the computer started to shutdown randomly .

I changed the motherboard to a Intel Based MotherBoard ( that i ordered as a spare ) , It worked after the mobo changing for 1 hour then the power is down again, So i'm back to my Nvidia Motherboard . & it's still shutsdown .

    I changed the HDD to a new one 320 G.B & a new 4GB RAM .

Any help will be appreciated ...

Try watching your temperatures (CPU and GPU especially) using HWMonitor, Everest, PCWizard, Core Temp or GPU-Z.

What about using official Nvidia 179.xx official drivers. It really helps to keep my 88m SLI silent and 55 degrees idle and 67 degrees while gaming. So you can give a shot. Also make sure not to use ur laptop on carpets, blankets or any sort of thing that absorbs heat thus making ur system hot.

Check that your power adapter isnt overheating.

    Is it a 65 or 90w adapter?

    It's 65 watts , I think it's O.K , I bout it 5 months earlier from a dell store .

Realy this problem is driving me crazy, I almost changed the whole computer ... & i was shocked when i installed the new Intel Motherboard & that problem happened again ...

    Thanks .

Keep in mind dedicated graphics cards require the 90w adapters. Integrated boards only need 60w.

If you overload a 60w adapter then it will overheat and shutoff.

i don't think that if the GPU reaches 69 degrees, It's too high . Unfortunately the pc is out of warranty .

One thing that i noticed, after it shuts down, i try immediately to power it on again ; the power button led will blink twice & nothing more happens .

& i have to remove the power adapter & re-attach it again, after that the computer is on .

Im not talking about the GPU, im talking about the power adapter.

You cant use a 60watt adapter on a notebook that draws 90w of power. The transformer in the power adapter will overheat and shutoff.

The one i'm using now is the Nvidia motherboard, It's about 8 months now . But last week i replaced it with a NEW intel based motherboard and it worked for 1 hour then the computer is off again, So i'm back to the NVIDIA .

I will try to find a 90w power adapter and check, Maybe something wrong with my power adapter cause my battery died suddenly ....

Thanks for help & Regards ...

Yes, try using a 90w adapter. When I had to send my laptop to Dell's depot for repair (long story), they decided to also change my original 90w adapter with a 60w, for no reason! I remember error messages popping up as soon as the laptop was turned on. Happily, they decided to give me my 90w adapter back. Yeah Dell rocks...
