I have a XPS m1330, and although the Intel chip does impress me (with 30 fps in source games), I want to attempt to replace the motherboard with the Nvidia motherboard, I know I need to get the correct heat-sink also, But do all the daughter boards use the same connections? ie the bluetooth module, lcd connector etc.

Any help is appreciated, Im glad to have joined and will hopefully be of use to the community :D

With all the m1330 nvidia failures, i'd never suggest making that exchange.
The nvidia chip is flawed and there are no good chips to replace it with.

yeah I'd definitely stick with the intel...in fact you could probably find people with the nvidia that would trade you for the intel if you really wanted it though.

there is nothing wrong with trying to get some internal small form factor graphics power... even if its a defective chip.

if you save your old motherboard, you could even use it as a car computer or media center.

but essentially, yeah youd have to buy one for like 150, install it yourself and wait a few months to a few years or more to fail... unless you find one with a warranty.

i would do it if i were you.

To answer the original question, you can use the Nvidia motherboard in an Intel machine. You will need the Nvidia heatsink, but I don't think you need to swap out any other parts.

That being said, I second that you shouldn't switch to Nvidia given all the issues with those boards...

And all that being said, I planed on reballing the gpu ahead of time to avoid issues, I bought this not realizing it was intel. So yeah I have a xps m1330 intel motherboard and heat-sink up for trade for a nvidia version + heat-sink. Im in jacksonville Fl :-D

edit : Also I would ship, I would even pay shipping both ways.

Reballing the gpu won't help much if the pads on the gpu are giving away ;)

I think once you get on top of the GPU thing before it happens, everything is good!

60c with no copper/undervolting. Use to be 50c-54c and the vents are clean. I upgraded the processor from a T5500 to a T7500. Temps were more or less the same.

Off Topic: I need a new battery for the m1330. Anyone have any recommendation on Amazon? Dell batteries are too expensive.

I usually just repack my batterys, its cheaper and you can sometimes get larger capacity. If you know someone who can solder, you can refurb the battery for about 30 bucks. My xps battery is basicly brand new and i get about 8 hours with it (radios off and screen@min).

    I use HWmonitor as well.

ear0wax, I think you need a certain amount of posts before you can send PMs. I probably will stay with the nvidia chipset until it dies. When it dies, I will either baked it back to life or find a intel's motherboard.

Wish i'd seen this post before, i could have asked an engineer today! The newest revision is about a year old that much i do know. I just got a new mobo installed and so far temps seem to about the same but my laptop isn't getting as warm. Think i'll invest in a cooling pad this time though.
